Harry William Baumgarten

Harry William Baumgarten advises clients on complex legal and institutional matters, as well as estate planning and wealth preservation, areas in which judgment, discretion, and clarity are essential.
 

He has served as general counsel to a commercial real estate company and deputy attorney general for the State of Delaware. He has also held senior management positions in Congress. Drawing on this experience, Harry represents individuals, businesses, and organizations facing legal and strategic challenges affecting their interests, operations, and governance.
 

Rooted in the principle of cura personalis, Harry takes an individualized approach to client representation, identifying the core drivers of each matter to develop practical, tailored solutions. Harry is an at-large member of the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates, term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and secretary of both DACOR and the DACOR Bacon House Foundation.

His writings have appeared in The Hill, Slate, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Dallas Morning News, and The Jerusalem Post. His legal and public policy scholarship has been published in the Notre Dame Journal of Legislation and Georgetown Public Policy Review, and by the London School of Economics.

 

Harry lives with his wife and daughter in Bethesda, Maryland.
